What our clients say about our service

Leaky shower? Act Now

Leaking showers are one of the main triggers that set our customers off on their bathroom renovation journey and we will have the solution. Whatever the job, we’ll be able to assess the situation and point you in the right direction.

Leaking shower jobs can run from a simple repair, to larger scale repairs that involve a shower floor replacement or even re-waterproofing. Depending on the extent of the damage, rotten flooring may need the help of a carpenter to repair.

If you have noticed that your shower is leaking, it’s recommended you have it assessed early and have the problem fixed as soon as possible. Early action can save you thousands of dollars in repairs. Shane will come to you and perform a thorough site inspection, including a visual assessment of the area or damage, and provide you with a quote.

Have the damage assessed early

Having been in the business for so long, we’ve seen the damage that a leaking shower can cause. It might not seem like much on the surface, but it can be a very different story underneath – especially in older houses. In newer houses, cracks in grout and tiles or splits in silicone joints can damage the waterproof membrane under the tiles; in older houses that still have their original bathroom, the area may not even have a waterproof membrane.

Perhaps your old house has had a bathroom renovation before, but with natural movement of the home over the intervening years, the waterproof membrane applied previously may have been damaged. It’s also possible that a prior waterproofing application was substandard – either in terms of the application or use of an inferior product, so it’s always best to err on the side of caution and have your shower assessed for any potential damage.

Cracks in tiles, holes in grout and splits in silicone joins lead to water infiltration in floors and walls, which can not only cause problems with rising damp and growth of mould and bacteria but can attract termites and result in wood rot. Pest infestation and wood rot can easily spread and, if it’s not identified and fixed early, can seriously affect the structural integrity of your home and cost thousands of dollars to fix – plus, this kind of damage isn’t usually covered by home insurance.

Need asbestos removed? We’ve got you covered.

Once upon a time asbestos was the go-to building material, and with good reason – it is heat resistant, fire resistant and a very effective electrical insulator. However, it’s also an incredibly dangerous substance to have in your home, especially if it starts to degrade. Exposure to asbestos dust can cause severe health problems and, for this reason, use of asbestos has been banned in
Australia since 2003.

Finding that you have asbestos in your walls or ceiling can sometimes be a shock, however asbestos-containing building materials are more common than you might think. Believe it or not, asbestos-containing materials are frequently found in many Australian houses built before 1990. It was regularly used in the backing of wall tiles, and asbestos cement sheeting and low-density asbestos fibreboard was often used in the ceilings, walls and floors of wet areas and high-humidity areas, such as bathrooms and laundries.

While asbestos that is in good condition is relatively safe, as long as it remains undisturbed, many people choose to remove it from their homes because of the known health risks. The most important thing to remember when removing asbestos from your home is that it must be properly isolated and handled with utmost care. If you’re in any way unsure, it’s always best to leave it to the professional and use a licensed asbestos remover.

The Novocastrian Bathroom Solutions’ team have received specialised training in the safe handling and disposal of asbestos, and we are fully licensed and accredited asbestos removers. We remove asbestos from both bathrooms and laundries weekly, so we have plenty of experience and our processes are designed to protect you and your family during this time.
